César is a microbiologist and bioinformatician who specialises in analysing microbiome and omics data in environmental and health-related contexts. He holds a degree in Biology from the University of Alicante and a Master’s Degree in Laboratory Management and Direction from the Escuela del Agua (Barcelona). He has a strong background in integrating bioinformatics, molecular biology and R&D project management, with a particular focus on technology transfer and industrial application. Throughout his career, César has worked on developing and validating pipelines for NGS analysis, metagenomics and metabarcoding, as well as on the taxonomic and functional characterization of microbial communities in complex matrices.
He has experience in designing and validating molecular assays (qPCR, RT-qPCR, Sanger sequencing and NGS) for emerging pathogens and resistance genes, and implementing genomic monitoring systems in wastewater using a One Health approach. He has actively participated in national and European projects, collaborating with universities, technology centres and private companies. In his current role as a Microbiome Specialist, he advises public and private entities on defining analytical strategies and selecting the most suitable omics technologies to meet their scientific and operational goals. He provides a comprehensive perspective that connects research, innovation, and market needs.
