Microomics is sponsoring the VIII Fagoma Meeting, which will be held on the 3rd and 4th of October at the Hotel AGH Canet (Valencia). 

Microomics will participate in the lectures and round tables together with researchers and other expert companies and will present some advances and challenges in the field, such as: 

1.- Improving the quality and safety of food, a priority for our society, and making it compatible with sustainable production and adapted to the growing demand for food. 

2.- Obtaining new antimicrobial agents capable of eliminating antibiotic-resistant bacteria. 

3.- To develop personalised medicine and healthcare based on the analysis of patients’ genomic and clinical data, which will make it possible to prevent and treat diseases. 

4.- Understanding the role of bacteriophages in the microbiome. Experts in various cutting-edge omics techniques are studying the role of bacteriophages in natural environments, including ecosystems as diverse as the Arctic and the Mediterranean. 

All this is part of the ‘One Health’ concept, which promotes a common strategy to control the use of antibiotics and biocides, not only in the human population, but also in agriculture and industry.

Microomics will participate in the Congress of the Spanish Society of Ovine and Caprine Technology (SEOC, XLVII National and XXII International Congress), to be held at the CEU Cardenal Herrera University of Valencia, in the Auditorium of the Campus of Alfara del Patriarca, from 18 to 20 September 2024. 

The event will bring together the technical and scientific sector of sheep and goat production, livestock farmers, cooperatives, technicians, scientists, university students, regional and national public administrations and companies related to the field, with the aim of achieving an important exchange of innovative experiences and highlighting its importance in the industrial and commercial sectors, both for meat and milk and their derivatives. 

The latest advances in reproduction technologies, the importance of the microbiome for productivity, strategies to make field work in small ruminants more attractive, as well as the latest findings on pathologies such as Q fever, listeriosis or mastitis, are some of the topics of the sessions planned in the programme.

Microomics is sponsoring the XXIII National Congress of Food Microbiology of the SEM (Spanish Society of Microbiology) which will be held at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), from 9 to 12 September 2024. 

A broad and very interesting scientific programme will be presented discussing current topics in the field of food microbiology, such as the role of artificial intelligence, the demands of climate change and the sustainability of the future will be discussed. 

It is a unique opportunity for nationally and internationally renowned researchers, as well as young researchers and professionals in the field, to present their ideas and forge future collaborations and interactions.

In our desire to collaborate in the dissemination of microbiology, and contribute to study the main challenges that, as a society, we face, MICROOMICS sponsors the VI Meeting of the Specialized Group in Teaching and Dissemination of Microbiology organized by the University of Valencia, which will be held on 11 and 12 July at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences of the Burjassot Campus of the University of Valencia.

The programme is focused on teaching and dissemination of Microbiology, with round table discussions, workshops and poster exhibition, and is aimed at students interested in Microbiology, researchers interested in science communication, pre-university teachers and university students with a curiosity for innovation.

27 and 28 June: The Barcelona Debates on the Human Microbiome

Once again, to coincide with World Microbiome Day, MICROOMICS is participating in the 10th edition of the Barcelona Debates on the Human Microbiome, which will be held on 27 and 28 June at the Cosmo Caixa in Barcelona.

Renowned speakers will share the results of their studies and research with the scientific community and discuss current issues such as the microbiome in cancer and its relationship with the immune system, among others.

“Feed your microbes: how diet shapes your gut microbiome”

When we talk about the microbiome we are referring to the set of organisms, their genes, the substances they produce and the environment in which they live, such as our body, the intestinal tract, the skin, the mouth, but it also includes microorganisms in the soil, animals and the environment.

To raise awareness of the contribution of the microbiome as an innovative alternative for a long-term sustainable future, we celebrate World Microbiome Day every year on 27 June. We highlight the importance of increased research into the microbiota, the study of all living organisms that make up the microbiome, and which play a fundamental role in maintaining human health.

This year’s theme, “Feed your microbes: how diet shapes your gut microbiota”, focuses on achieving a diverse microbiota to prevent many diseases. The microbiota is unique to each individual and is closely linked to the immune system and the central nervous system, forming a crucial gut-brain-microbiota axis.
